With the end of the 2025/26 tax year approaching, we advise our clients to take the time to ensure that they are utilising all available tax reliefs and allowances in order to benefit fully from them, or simply to minimise liabilities. BRI can help with this, either directly or by working alongside other trusted advisers, such as your accountants.
Capital Gains Tax (CGT)
The annual Capital Gains Tax exemption is £3,000 for individuals (£1,500 for trusts). Losses from current or even earlier years can be used to offset gains, and using interspousal transfers to maximise exemptions should be considered.
ISAs
Every adult can still invest £20,000 per annum (£40,000 per couple) into an ISA, meaning that £80,000 could be invested within this flexible tax shelter, either side of the tax year. There is also the £9,000 allowance for Junior ISAs.
At BRI we offer flexible ISAs enabling you to replace any amount you have withdrawn from your ISA in the same tax year, up to the annual allowance amount. Using retrospective ISA allowances after the end of a tax year is not permitted.
If you wish to top-up your ISA before the end of the tax year, please speak to your usual adviser.
