BRI Welcomes Coventry University Investment Society

BRI recently welcomed 13 members of Coventry University’s Investment Society to our Meriden office. The Investment Society holds an annual competition to invest a theoretical £100m and assesses its progress on a weekly basis. We invited the students to our offices to share our investment experience and expertise.

The morning commenced with a presentation from Vince Hopkins who gave an overview of BRI’s heritage and investment processes. Dan Boardman-Weston then took over the mantle explaining BRI’s views on current stockmarkets. A question and answer session followed with many questions about investments, stockmarkets, careers and internships.

The Investment Society is relatively new to Coventry University aiming to provide students with a basic ground level of financial literacy. They have attended a number of other presentations from financial institutions such as Bloomberg and the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

BRI felt this was a great opportunity to help students understand the market and provide them with a basic understanding of what an independently owned investment management company does. We welcome a handful of work experience placements every summer and the BRI team enjoys imparting their knowledge and passion for the industry on to future generations.

BRI’s Head of Investment Management, Vince Hopkins said “It’s great to help members of the community especially those that have an interest in our industry. We hope this has been a helpful experience for them and that they may one day follow in our footsteps.”
