Simon Smith

Simon has been involved in investment management since 1987 and his experience, unusually, has covered both public and private companies.

He was a Director at Albert E Sharp where he was responsible for starting-up and building its unit trust division and also managing the top-performing UK Smaller Companies Unit Trust, which had net assets of £330m at its peak.

Simon later became Chief Executive of a listed venture capital company where he was responsible for the management of a portfolio focused on management buy-ins and early stage investments in high-growth businesses. In 2006 he led a consortium to privatise the business backed by Nova Capital and Caledonia Investments, following which he became a Director of Nova Capital. Simon continues to be, a director of a number of private companies.
